On May 10^th, the 2013 Society of Chinese Biologist Association (SCBA)-Texas Chapter Annual Symposium was held in Houston, Texas. Kaiqi Sun (class 2007), a current graduate student in Dr. Yang Xia’s lab, was awarded The Professor Alexander Yeu-Ming Wang Memorial Scholarship for outstanding performance and excellence in oral presentation. This $500 cash award is the highest in this meeting. Kaiqi Sun graduated from Xiangya School of Medicine in 2011 and received his bachelor’s degree in Biological Science. During his study in Xiangya, he was awarded various awards and scholarships including Yale-China scholarship in 2010. His graduation thesis was also chosen as the outstanding graduation thesis in 2011. Also, in the past two years of study under Dr. Xia’ supervision, he managed to publish one review paper and co-author in one research paper published in Circulation Research. He was also awarded twice in their program retreat.
